Azafran Shipyard, based in Belém, Pará, has launched the the AP 5 self-propelled tanker barge designed to transport BPF oil in Northern Brazil. It belongs to AP Marine fleet—a company focused on oil waste removal and recovery.
Constructed from carbon steel, the AP 5 measures 42.5 meters in length, with a 2.3-meter draft, a total weight of 220 tons, and a top speed of 10 knots. The launch positions Azafran to secure new orders and highlights the North’s growing relevance as a maritime hub.
“BPF is a heavy oil used in applications like asphalt production, boilers, and furnaces. The Northern Region of Brazil is a reference in building vessels like these”, says Daniel Buckley, Chartering Manager at WSB Advisors and tanker expert.
