Brazilian Navy starts construction of 4th Tamandaré-class frigate On 9 January 2026, Brazilian Navy began construction of the fourth Tamandaré-class frigate (F203 Mariz e Barros) with a steel-cutting ceremony at TKMS Estaleiro Brasil Sul, in Itajaí (SC).
All four units of the program are now under construction in Brazil, advancing fleet renewal focused on maritime surveillance, surface warfare and protection of offshore assets. Final delivery of the class is scheduled by 2029
