Last week, Equinor celebrated the arrival of the Valaris drillship DS-17 in Rio de Janeiro
to begin exploration in the Bacalhau field. The vessel will allow the company to increase the
drilling capacity through a better understanding of the potential of the field.
The contract has a duration of 540 days. This is the second drillship contracted by Equinor for exploration
in the field. The first was Seadrill´s West Saturn which began operations in November last
year. The DS-17 is an ultra-deep water vessel, capable of operating in water depths around
3,600 meters.
